  Eva Wharton

My name is Eva Hallberg Wharton. I have been steeped in dentistry since I was a child. My father was attending USC Dental School when I was born. My first stories were from Grey's Anatomy. I started working for my Dad as a "gofer" and a 'do what no one else wanted to do' person when I was in middle school and summers. When I was old enough, I worked as a dental assistant during the summers and after school.

After the necessary pre-requisites at San Fernando State College (CSUN), I attended USC Dental Hygiene School. I graduated in 1975. After working for numerous other dentists I arrived at my final destination in July 1981 with Dr. Seastrom. It has been my pleasure to have worked with someone all of these years that I can respect.

My 2 kids, Michelle and Ryan have grown up with Dr. Seastrom as their dentist. Over the 31 years that I have worked for Dr Seastrom and Dr. Whitley (when he joined the practice), I have worked one, two, three days more and less as my children grew up and needs changed. Michelle was only 3 when I started with Dr. Seastrom and Ryan, only 8. It is hard to believe that they are already grown with families of their own. I now have 3 grandchildren, 2 girls and 1 boy.

Most satisfying I have found is watching the children of our patients grow up, have kids of their own and I am now seeing them as patients. Sharing the Dental Education that I have learned from my dad, my instructors at school and the continuation courses to numerous to count over the years, and a new crop of children is a joy. Of course Dr. Seastrom is always one to share with us the courses and numerous articles that he has absorbed and learned.

My husband Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's over 15 years ago and has plunged into researching the best care and treatment options. Mike has been part of an FDA drug study (joyfully) this was based in Birmingham Alabama where our daughter and grandchildren are located. Although the study did not prove to be as great a benefit as we had hoped, it did allow us to visit our family. In 2008, Michael had brain surgery to implant the deep brain stimulation for the treatment of Parkinson's. As a result of his growing medical needs I have dropped down to only one day a week on Tuesdays.

So those of you whom I have seen over the years and shared care and family stories with remember to ask Goretti or Mary for Eva on Tuesdays! May we share many more years.
